Over-Provisioning is a feature that helps resize partitions on your SSD to create unused space on the drive, giving the controller room to manage, improve, and sustain the performance of your SSD. Therefore, it is strongly recommended taht you BACK-UP the data before using Secure Erase. Secure Erase will permanently erase all the data on thr selected drive. Please quit all applications during Firmware update to ensure stability. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you BACK-UP your data before using Firmware Update. There is a risk of complete data loss when updating Firmware. Fireware updates may include improvements in SSD performance, compatibility, user environment, etc. The Firmware Update menu is used to update the SSD to the latest firmware provided by Samsung. This feature will check system settings to determine how they will affect the SDD and recommend which features to enable or disable. The OS Optimization menu provides options to optimize the OS for working with an SSD to improve system performance and maximize SDD lifetime.
Most operating systen are optimized for traditional HDDs. It accomplishes these tasks by force executing two very important SSD maintenace features: TRIM and Garbage Collection. The Performance Optimization feature automatically consolidates disparate data and perpares invalid memory for future use. Please limit the use of this feature to no more than once per day. Note: Frequent execution of the Performance Benchmark feature may reduce the lifespan of your SSD. The Performance Benchmark feature tests drive performance based on sequential read, sequential write, random read, and random write and compares the current performance resuls with past results.
"Drive Summary" displays information about the drive itself, such as model name, serial number, manufacturer, firmware version, drive capacity, and S.M.A.R.T information. "System Summary" displays information about the OS and the main hardware components. The System Information menu show information about your PC and the drive(s) connected to it. In addition to providing inforamtion about the user's system and SSD product, this software also supports advanced features, like SSD performance management, benchmarking for optimum performance, new firmware updates, etc. Samsung SSD Magician facilitates easy maintenance and use of Samsung SSD products connected to a desktop or notebook computer.
